CONUNDRUM AND MER SOLEIL

Free tasting of Conundrum Red and White Blends as well as Mer Soleil Santa Lucia Reserve Chardonnay and Silver Chardonnay

Conundrum Red
A deep plum hue, this wine features the alluring aromas of berry pie, vanilla, sweet tobacco and brown spice. It is plush and velvety upon entry, with flavors of German chocolate and dark plums. The texture is soft and granular like fine cocoa powder. Round wood tannins add structure as well as smoothness. Both the flavors and texture of this wine develop on the palate, leading into a long sensual finish that is opulent but not sweet – balanced, rich and refined. Be bold and serve slightly chilled.

Conundrum White
Light in color – calling to mind shades of straw or sun-kissed bold hair – this wine opens with evocative scents of apricot, pineapple, honeysuckle and coconut. A slight flintiness of wet stone adds a layer of interest, due to a small portion of the wine being fermented in concrete tanks. Entry on the palate is cream and soft, with lush flavors of Asian pear, Hawaiian fruit, apricot and brown spice. The finish brings just a wisp of acid to balance the richness of the fruit, with the distinct characteristics of each varietal in this blend creating a lasting harmonious impression.

Mer Soleil Santa Lucia Reserve Chardonnay
Golden and sun-kissed, the 2014 vintage opens up with the fresh, tropical scents of pineapple and citrus blossom, balanced by the smooth character of vanilla. White peach comes through on the palate, which has a vibrant acidity balanced by the natural character of fully ripe fruit. Medium to full-bodied, this wine has a finish that is lengthy but never heavy, its mix of oak, butter and fruit characteristics blending seamlessly and leaving a harmonious, lingering impression.

Mer Soleil Silver Chardonnay
Fair in color and fresh from start to finish, the 2014 vintage opens up with aromas of flower blossoms, crisp pears and a hint of honeysuckle. Bright citrus evokes the clean taste of Meyer lemons, which grow amidst our estate vineyards, where a portion of this wine is sourced. On the palate, the wine is round and layered, with an acidity and depth that belie its unoaked character.
