March 2020 | BODEGAS TONELES TONEL 46 MALBEC RESERVA 2016

Our March Staff Pick was chosen by Merritt Bremer!

March is the month of the Irish – But in this case for Argentina too! This Malbec is paired well with beef dishes. If you’re not a whiskey drinker this wine is perfect to serve with you’re traditional Corned Beef and Cabbage meal on St Patrick’s day!

A very attractive, bright and intense purplish red color. The nose perceives characteristics of Red Fruits, especially mature plum, berries, and violets, integrated with traces of chocolate, coconut, vanilla, cinnamon, and tobacco, which is due to its stay in oak barrels. It enters the mouth kindly and delicately, with sweet and mature tannins, being very round, complex and with a prolonged end.

Rated 91 Points by Wine Advocate | The perfumed and harmonious 2016 Tonel 46 Malbec was produced with grapes from their estate vineyards in Los Chacayes and El Manzano in Tunuyánn in the Uco Valley. It matured in second use French oak barrels for six to eight months. It’s floral and spicy and has an approachable palate with fine tannins, bright, juicy fruit and high acidity that makes you salivate.

Rated 89 Points by James Suckling | Full redcurrant and pomegranate fruit with moderately dry tannins and enough acidity make this quite an attractive young Malbec. Drink now.
