The 2019 Blue Eyed Boy is dense in color with vibrant dark purple hues. A complex, alluring and lifted nose of blueberry, fresh plum, and hints of mocha cream leap from the glass. 92 points || The 2019 Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz blends fruit from Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale, matures in American oak (54% new, the balance second use) and delivers the kind of pleasure overload Mollydooker fans are accustomed to. Waves of chocolate, blackberry, plum and vanilla emerge from the glass, while the full-bodied palate is supple, generous and velvety in feel, and the lengthy finish adds hints of licorice. If there's any criticism, it's that the wine is rather formless and does show a bit of alcoholic warmth (it's labeled at 16% alcohol), so its ability to evolve in a positive direction is probably limited.
