The fruit for our full-bodied Meritage hails from prime vineyards in California’s coastal region, where cool ocean breezes slow the pace of ripening and promote optimal flavor development. This richly styled red blend is composed of the classic Bordeaux varietals: Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The nose and palate brim with notes of ripe blackberry, mulberry and blueberry, framed by hints of violet and mulling spices. On the mid-palate, flavors of dark chocolate, cinnamon and Tahitian vanilla prevail. Powerful, chewy tannins support the lengthy finish, redolent with brown sugar, caramel and oak notes.
