Tasting Notes

The St Huberts The Stag Chardonnay 2019 offers lifted citrus notes of lemon tart and candied peel meld with stone fruit aromas of peach kernel and tinned pears. In the mix are mineral flint, white flowers, and pie crust. The wine is fresh, light and lively without being lean, with pear and lemon butter following on from the nose. Vibrant and restrained, with just a feather dusting of spicy oak. The finish is clean cut with lingering citrus notes.

Tasting Panel

91 points & Publishers Pick || Grapes for this delicate Chardonnay (with 3.5% Chenin Blanc) came from two Santa Barbara County properties influenced by the Pacific, the hilly blocks of Cat Canyon Vineyard in the Los Alamos area and Santa Maria Valley's North Vineyard. Appealing floral aromas and scents of lanolin play a role in texturizing the creamy palate. The wine was aged surlie in French oak and underwent partial malolactic fermentation, creating a balance of body, acidity, and fruit character that's framed by ripe pear, pineapple, and lemon verbena.

Wine Enthusiast

88 points || Tight aromas of lime pith, sweetgrass, baked apple and rainy cement show on the nose of this bottling. It's more viscous than expected on the palate, with flavors of orange juice and roasted pear that border on sweet.
