Whatever Happened to Whipshots? (And How to Make Your Own Alcohol-Infused Whipped Cream)
Remember the buzz when Cardi B released Whipshots, her vodka-infused whipped topping? Customers wanted a can for everything from martinis to ice cream, and then…
The cans stopped working. After one or two uses, the cans just stopped producing, and no amount of shaking or slapping could get them to work, even though the cream was still in there. At first, we thought it was just a flaw in a few cans, but customers kept bringing back defective can after defective can. A quick visit to Reddit showed that the issue was widespread (note to self: do not make Redditors angry – yikes), and there was never any word that the canisters were going to be redesigned, so we decided to stop carrying them here at Bremer’s Wine & Liquor. If they improve the product design, we would certainly consider carrying them, but until then, we’re out of luck for a ready-to-use product.
However, it’s fairly easy to make your own alcohol-infused whipped cream at home.
You need:
1 cup whipping cream
4 tablespoons powdered sugar
3 tablespoons liquor (vodka, bourbon, rum, etc)
A stand mixer or a hand mixer
Add ingredients to a mixing bowl and beat at medium to high speed until the cream reaches the consistency you want. Serve immediately, or store in a sealed container in the fridge for a day (if it separates while stored, you can re-whip it to incorporate everything again).
